Shawinigan Cataractes Acquire William Gignac

On Thursday, the Shawinigan Cataractes acquired right-winger William Gignac from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for a seventh-round pick at the 2018 QMJHL draft. The 20-year-old will be joining his brother, who is the Cataractes goaltender.

William will be joining his fourth QMJHL team in just four years. The 154-pound winger has dressed in four games for the Armada this season, picking up a goal and an assist. Gignac has played a total of 172 regular season games in the QMJHL scoring 30 goals and 42 assists.

It is expected that William will make his debut with the Cataractes on Friday against the Gatineau Olympiques. Shawinigan will be looking to improve their current lead in the Eastern Division.
