Liiga’s 8th seed team, HIFK has been busy today with a couple transactions.

HIFK has added 33-year old goaltender Jere Myllyniemi to their roster. The 6’1”, 185lbs keeper comes in right when they need him to as their current starter, Ex-Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom is injured. Myllyniemi last played for HPK last year in Liiga where he recorded 2.87 goals against average, and 0.888 save percentage in 29 games.

The another transaction was a sad one, as 26-year-old defenseman Tommi Taimi leaves HIFK. The 5’11”, 190lbs blueliner saw success with HIFK last year recording 7 goals, 32 points in 43 games. This year he has had a rough go notching only 3 points in 17 games.
