Hurricane terminate Nakladal’s Contract
On Monday, Carolina Hurricanes GM Ron Francis announced that the club had terminated defenseman Jakub Nakladal’s contract. The 28 year-old has only played in three games for the Hurricanes this season. The Czech defenseman has not registered a point this season while averaging 14 and a half minutes a game. Nakladal cleared waivers last week and was re-assigned to the AHL on Friday but failed to report to the Charlotte Checkers.
The Hurricanes signed the 212-pound defenseman on October 9th after the World Cup of Hockey. Nakladal played 3 games for the Czechs during the tournament recording no points and 4 penalty minutes. The Calgary Flames decided not to re-sign Nakladal after playing 27 games scoring 2 goals and 3 assists with the club last season.
