Martin Frk Re-Claimed
The Detroit Red Wings have re-claimed Martin Frk off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Only one month since the Hurricanes claimed him from the Red Wings, Frk returns to the team that drafted him 2nd round, 49th overall in the 2012 entry draft.
After recording 44 points in a 67-game season in the AHL last year, and a remarkable pre-season, the Hurricanes took advantage of the opportunity to get a hold of the young right-winger when Detroit elected to send him back down to the AHL. Just like with Pulkkinen, Detroit’s offseason efforts to improve their NHL forward roster without sacrificing young talent through trade instead resulted with them losing young talent through waivers.
Following the pickup however, Frk played 2 games with the Canes recording no points and a -3 rating. The Canes then decided to put him back on waivers to send him to the AHL.
The 6-foot-1, 194 pound winger is a proven winner after winning the Memorial Cup back in his Halifax days. With some more work and some more experience in the NHL, expect this kid to be making a difference in the big club in the future.
