The Colorado Avalanche may not have the strongest prospect pool, but that is for good reason. They, like a few other teams have had good enough prospects to have them play for them early, such as Landeskog, Mackinnon, Duchene and Barrie. For what they do have, it’s a lot of possible diamonds in the rough.

Joey Hishon is always an interesting case for the Avalanche. Hishon constantly has injury issues, but between those injuries are some flashes of the skill we all know he has. If he can overcome these injuries, he can be a great player. The issue is right now, that’s a mighty big if.

Duncan Siemens had some time when some thought he could be a bust, but this past season seems like it may be changing some minds on this case. Siemens may not have the offense he showed in juniors, but this defenseman is rounding himself into a very strong defensive game. Look for Siemens to be a big part of the Av’s future on the blueline.

Sami Aittokallio had a very rough season. This caused him to play the majority of the season in the ECHL, which is what Pickard needed to strut his stuff this season. With Varlamov, Pickard, Berra, and Spencer all above him right now, the goaltender has a steep hill to climb. However, with what we’ve seen in the past, you can never count him out as he can steal games.

This list contains any skater below 100gp in the regular season and under the age of 26. For goalies it is under 50gp in the regular season and under the age of 26. Ranks 11-20 are on the 2nd page.
