Pavel Zacha Commits to the Sting
Pavel Zacha, 1st overall pick in the 2014 CHL Import Draft has committed to the Sarnia Sting of the OHL.
17-year-old Zacha is among Czech’s elite prospects. The 6-foot-3, 203 pound left winger scored 17 points (6 goals) in 10 games in the Czech U20 league playing for Bili Tygri Liberec U20. This is Zacha’s 3rd year playing for Liberec. In 2012-13 Zacha recorded 40 points (14 goals) in 39 games. In 2011-12 Zacha only played the 1 game where he recorded no points.
Pavel Zacha is a member of the elite 2015 NHL Entry Draft class and is already rumoured to be one of the few that can rival Connor McDavid. Zacha took part in the WJC for the Czechs where he played 6 games and recored no points.
Zacha will be joining a struggling Sarnia Sting team that finished in last place in the OHL with only Nikolay Goldobin and Anthony DeAngelo to be proud of. He will be hoping to make a change to that statement for next year along with OHL Priority Draft 1st overall pick Jakob Chychrun. Chychrun is a solid Aaron Ekblad-like defenseman who together with Zacha will round out the roster for the Sting.
Zacha’s selection by the Sting did go with controversy as Allan Wash, Pavel’s previous adviser stated that the team was “”wasting their pick”. However today, Michal Sivek, one of Pavel Zacha’s current handlers tweeted that the youngster is headed to the OHL.
