Jets sign Galiardi
The Winnipeg Jets have signed UFA forward TJ Galiardi to a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000.
TJ Galiardi became a UFA for the second straight offseason after the Calgary Flames elected not to re-sign the winger. The 26-year-old scored 4 goals, 17 points, received 21 PIM and had a -13 rating in his 62 games played last season with the Flames. Known more as a depth forward, Galiardi has also played 2 seasons with the San Jose Sharks and the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, as well as the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL and the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL. In his 283 NHL games so far in his career, he has totaled 43 goals for 104 points with 134 PIM.
The Winnipeg Jets have solidified their top 6 with Mark Scheifele proving his worth last season along with Blake Wheeler, Evander Kane, Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little and Dustin Byfuglien. Galiardi helps fill their next need, which is depth. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Galiardi is a fantastic depth player who can score, kill penalties, and fill any role needed. He is a very versatile player for any team looking to go deep in the season.
