Albany Devils Sign Two
The Albany Devils of the AHL has signed Centerman Graham Black and Defenseman Joe Faust to amateur try-out contracts.
Graham Black has spent the last 4 seasons with the Swift Current Broncos. The 6 foot, 184 pound forward recorded a career high 34 goals and 97 points in 69 games this season. Black was also an impressive +18 this season as well. Prior to this season Graham Black had two seasons of 50 points. In the playoffs this year, Black scored 4 points in 6 games. Black was a 5th round pick of the New Jersey Devils, 135th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Joe Faust was a 4th round pick of the New Jersey Devils in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, 114th overall. Faust just completed his 4th season playing for the University of Wisconsin in the NCAA. This season the defenseman finished with 14 points in 37 games sitting at a +10. Last season, Faust and the rest of the University of Wisconsin team finished as the WCHA champions.
Black is a very smart player on the ice and plays a fantastic two-way game. His vision allows him to make clean, pristine passes to his teammates. His ability to win faceoffs and his play in his defensive zone stands above the rest. Faust is a short player sitting at 5 foot 11, 205 pounds, but his play with the puck will make you forget that. He makes a great 1st pass out of the zone and has a solid shot from the blueline.
Both will join the Albany Devils who currently sit in 7th in the Eastern Conference of the AHL while in the final stretch of the season. The two will try to help Albany keep their spot in the playoffs and will help them as they make their run for the ultimate prize in the AHL, the Calder Cup.
