This week’s League it to Us Power Ranking: 18th in the NHL, 9th in the Eastern Conference, 4th in the Atlantic Division.

3 points of the Week

1.  Devils’ Top Prospect Could Be Out Entire Season

Jon Merrill, hoping to play for the NCAA’s Michigan Wolverines, is expected to be out at least another couple of months as he recovers from a neck fracture.

2. Brodeur Not Happy With Hamrlik’s Lockout Comments

Veteran D-man Roman Hamrlik recently criticised the NHLPA and representative Donald Fehr, venting his frustration over the NHL lockout. Brodeur essentially addressed Hamrlik’s remarks as unprofessional, and that they showed a sense of weakness in the NHLPA’s position regarding the lockout.

3. Team Captain Yet to be Named

With Zach Parise gone, the Devils have to choose a team captain. Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias appear to be strong candidates.
